Filtration Media
CR Minerals’ Navajo Brand® and PFM (Pumice Filtration Media)® are used in both cartridge and open multi-media filters. In cartridge filters, Navajo Brand® pumice can replace sand, zeolites, and carbon based filtration media. The narrow particle size range and rough surface texture of Navajo Brand® pumice provide an open void volume, which increases flow rates while maintaining excellent adsorption and impurity trapping capabilities critical to a high quality filtration media.
In multi-media filters, PFM (Pumice Filtration Media)® pumice effectively replaces anthracite, which is placed on top of the sand layer. PFM (Pumice Filtration Media)®, like anthracite, has a low density which facilitates trapping the impurity particles in the open void volume of the larger pumice particles thus preventing the blinding of the top of the sand filtration media.
This leads to longer run times and reduced back-washing.In addition to its standard filtration media products, CR Minerals can provide custom grades as requested. All PFM (Pumice Filtration Media)® products are NSF-61 approved and meet AWWA B100 physical and chemical specifications. Pumice is a preferred lightweight aggregate in concrete, and is finding increasing use in landscape design as a white landscape stone replacing traditional river rock.
